Persuasive Conversations with the Greens
5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
This election we have a huge chance to reach out and share the Greens vision with as many people as possible. We want to talk to thousands and thousands of voters about the importance of having genuine, community-led representation.  So let's make sure we're having really great conversations with them! Join the Greens WA team on Monday September 2nd from 5pm at Clubs HQ, as we run through some key training for persuasive conversations. You'll hear all about how we can overcome conversation barriers, and question people about the issues that matter the most to them. See you there! Location: Guild HQ (Roughly between Concept Coffee and the Tav). Recommended parking: multi-story car park near the Curtin Central Bus Station and Curtin Stadium. Parking is free on campus after 4:30pm. There are ACROD bays to the immediate East of this parking, reached by driving through it. Recommended public transport: Curtin Central Bus Station. Directions: walk down Beazley Ave from the bus stop, turn left to walk along the south side of the multi-story carpark, and then veer right to go towards the Tav. You can walk through or around the Tav to get to the courtyard Guild HQ faces onto. Wheelchair accessible directions from ACROD bays: You'll need to take the ramp between Building 400 (to the immediate East of the multi-story parking) and the Guild office building. Go down the Promenade and take two right turns to go around the back of Concept Coffee. Guild HQ will be to your left. Advocacy 101: How to advocate to your MP for Palestine
6:00 PM – 7:45 PM
Meeting with your MP is a powerful and important way to make your voice heard. Members of Parliament have the power to make the change we are calling for and we elect them to represent us - so let's make sure they listen to our concerns! This workshop will give you the tools to secure a meeting with your local member and put your best foot forward. It will focus on advocating for peace in Palestine, but the skills learned can be applied to any campaign. The Curtin Uni Greens Club are honoured to have Sophie McNeill and Hiba Farra run this workshop for us. Sophie McNeill is a Greens candidate for the Legislative Council at the 2025 State election, and has a long history in progressive campaigning and social justice. Hiba Farra is part of the team leading Australian Palestine Advocacy Network's Canberra lobbying efforts and has extensive experience meeting with MPs. Please make sure you register so you can give us your accessibility and dietary info. The club is providing dinner from Kirribilli catering, free of charge to attendees. Location: 400.222 (School of Population Health building). Recommended parking: multi-story car park near the Curtin Central Bus Station and Curtin Stadium. Parking is free on campus after 4:30pm. There are ACROD bays to the immediate West of building 400. Recommended public transport: Curtin Central Bus Station. Directions: walk through/around the multi-story car park, up the large entrance staircase (ramp available) and enter building 400 from the east side. Get navigation directions from your location by entering "400.222" here: https://properties.curtin.edu.au/visit-curtin/campus-maps/

Campaigning with Disability: Online Session
5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
This event is co-organised with Cripps Contra Colonialism. Activism is how we make a difference. Unfortunately, not all campaigns take the time to make sure everyone is included. Trying to get involved in activism can be a daunting task. We all want to campaign for social justice and equity, but the scene is dominated by marching at protests and sleeping overnight on campus, and it isn’t always clear how beginners can get involved. This workshop will give you the tools to make a difference and give you the opportunity to share shortcomings in the activist movement. Together, we’ll break down the different kinds of activism happening in Perth, discuss the current barriers to accessibility, and brainstorm ways organisers can improve accessibility of their events. Make sure you register for the event so you can provide information about your accessibility needs.
